"So I'm back to the velvet underground. Back to the floor that I love. To a room with some lace and paper flowers. Back to the gypsy that I was." -Stevie Knicks, Gypsy song lyrics
CASINO & CARNIVAL BALL. A night of mystery, amusement, and playing the odds in one of Salt Lake's most understated warehouse spaces. A secret entrance to the night where nothing else matters, except raising money for Housing First and having a wicked good time! — to raise compassion and financial support for the chronically homeless in Utah. All monies raised through this event are donated to the Road Home's Housing First Project.
Casino, 2 Cocktail Bars, a Soda Bar, and an Absinthe Bar, Aerial Performers, Live Music, Carnival Eats
ATTIRE: Costume de Ostentatoire [flamboyant, fabulous, and fancy attire]
Housing First. The Housing First program is a research-based solution to end chronic homelessness. It provides housing to the homeless in Utah through places like the Road Home’s Palmer Court, without prior requirements to obtain employment or pass sobriety testing.
The Philosophy. According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, one must fulfill basic needs before addressing psychological or social needs. By giving an individual or family a home, they are then given an opportunity to overcome the issues that caused them to be homeless.
Every penny raised is a penny donated to The Road Home for the Housing First Program (vs. all proceeds, as the event is paid for by SaltLakeHomes.com -- a real estate team affiliated with KW Utah Realtors Keller Williams). Casino & Carnival Ball is a fundraising event for the Housing First Project, through The Road Home.
We raised $45,380 for the Housing First Project.
